While there are many, many vending machines in Japan, nearly all of them are devoted to drinks or, at the very least, liquid meals (corn soup, anyone?). When one does find vending machines bearing food, there can be some quite nice treats inside, and this is one of them. I found Bourbon‘s Funwari (fluffy) Orange Chocolate Baum at a train station where there were clearly too few commuters to justify a convenience store in the vicinity and there was thus an opening for a food-selling vending machine. Thus, I got to try this delicious little treat. Despite being shaped and packaged like a chocolate bar, this is definitely a cake with layers of subtle tasting chocolate, vanilla and orange. It all goes together very nicely and I can only recommend trying it!
