Morinaga’s Dars is quite ubiquitous throughout Japan’s shops, and for good reason – Dars is just really good chocolate, creamy and sweet. There are three basic flavours that you can find at just about any supermarket and/or convenience store – milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate – but they periodically branch into other varieties as well. One such variety is the above pictured nuts and fruits. It costs a little more than usual but it’s an interesting variation on just the usual Dars chocolates but fruit and nut blends. The key flavours used here are orange and cranberry with some almonds. The fruits end up being quite dominant, the almonds adding little more than some crunch, and while I enjoyed this, it’s really only recommended if you already like orange and cranberry flavoured chocolate.
